The Oakland Zoo, which is taking care of the cub as she recovers, said they hope they can transition her to oral medications in the next couple of days to limit stress. The zoo says it is still a long road ahead for the rescued mountain lion cub, but she is responding well to treatment so far.The zoo named the cub Holly and posted an update that includes video of the cub's care and recovery. Each of the islands has experienced active weather over the past few days. As of Tuesday morning, some areas had picked up nearly 10 inches of rain in the past 36 hours, while gusty winds created numerous power outages and snow coated some of the island's mountainous volcanoes. A Santa Cruz homeowner called wildlife officials on Monday night after finding a "small, weak, emaciated" female mountain lion cub on their property.

A Nampa woman died in a vehicle collision Saturday on Interstate 84 near Mountain Home. The 62-year-old was a passenger in a 2014 Mazda 2 that crossed over the right fog line and struck an unoccupied 1996 Honda Accord on the right shoulder of westbound I-84, according to an Idaho State Police press release. The passenger, who died at a local hospital, was not wearing a seat belt, the news release stated. She was identified Tuesday by the Ada County Coroner's Office as Jeanette Perez. The driver of the Mazda 2 was also transported to a local hospital but was wearing a seat belt, the release said.
OAKLAND, Calif. — A malnourished mountain lion cub that was found alone under a Santa Cruz home earlier this week will not be released back into the wild, the Oakland Zoo tweeted on Friday.
